INTERMEDIATE LEVEL: professional cameras. Your DSLR camera shoots video, but how to do it right? How to film, basic principles of filming, and lighting. Now that you've filmed, how to edit the video? Basic principles of editing. Tricks and tips. How to use the full potential of your camera for filming. Advanced principles of filming and editing.

We will use Final Cut Pro X, and/or Davinci Resolve, to edit videos or motion pictures, but we may also use any software you want to learn about. Sound editing and mixing, special effects, color grading, cuts and transitions, storyline…

Sound designing, and sound recording, are a whole world in themselves. Not easy to master. But so interesting and so necessary. They are what make a movie stand out. Very important. Let’s dive into the sound waves that surround us.

We will cover sound recording, mics, recorders, special effects…

All right, we know it as a matter of fact: we must stabilize our footage at any cost. Or not. It depends on the mood we want our film to have.

Let’s see how to stabilize our cameras with the help of steadicams and gimbals. How and when.

Green screen keying, also known as chroma keying or green screen compositing, is a technique used in videography and filmmaking to replace the background of a video with a different image or footage. This method allows filmmakers to shoot actors or objects in front of a uniformly colored green (or sometimes blue) background and then digitally remove that green background during post-production.

This course will explore the techniques necessary to conduct professional interviews. You will learn how to establish a genuine connection with your interviewees, creating a comfortable environment that allows the conversation to flow naturally and smoothly.

Okay, I admit it, I hate talking about gears! And about technique, even more horrible. But it's necessary. So let's go through the meanders of the grand theories, tricks, and equipment that make up our photographic world! Your own equipment is welcome because I'm sure you'll have questions about it, and you'll want to practice with them.

We will address, among many things: indoor vs. outdoor. Lenses. Heads and lighting equipment. Reflectors. Equipment and devices for macro photography. High-speed photography devices. Remote Shutters. Filters. Bags and backpacks. How to pack? What to take with you? Cleaning and care. Protect before lamenting. Bring all the equipment you own and wish to practice with.

Oh…this is pure stress, the production side of our job. But without production, nothing happens. And without a good, well-planned production, disaster may strike. Often underestimated, hidden behind their walkie-talkies, the production staff is essential.

In this course, we will cover every aspect of the pre-production, and production of any shoot, either photo, video, or motion picture, depending on your interests: planning, quoting, scouting, models and actors, rentals, permits, behaviors, resolving issues, setups, coms…and much more.

They also have the right to learn to photograph or film as God intended! So from 8 years of age, 10, 14, or 16 years old, here I am to put a professional camera in their hands and have them discover how to use it, how to frame, how to control aperture, speed, ISO, and everything else. Whatever they want to achieve and are willing to learn.

We will photograph whatever they want: flowers, landscapes, people, pets... We'll probably do it mostly outdoors. The idea is to have fun and learn so that we can steal Dad's or Mom’s camera occasionally and amaze everybody!
